Rose, Jürgen (1937– )

German stage designer. He studied in Berlin and designed for the Stuttgart Ballet 1962–73. He collaborated with director Otto Schenk for Don Carlos and Meistersinger in Vienna; Simon Boccanegra and Rosenkavalier at Munich; and Così fan tutte in Berlin. He worked at Bayreuth in 1972 and 1990 on Tannhäuser and Der fliegende Holländer, in productions by Götz Friedrich and Dieter Dorn. He created designs for Lucia di Lammermoor and Lohengrin at Hamburg; Die Zauberflöte in Munich (also seen at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London and on video); and Un ballo in maschera for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, 1975 (also seen at Los Angeles, 1993).
