Rose, Mary Davies Swartz

Rose, Mary Davies Swartz (1874–1941)

US nutritionist. She established a department of nutrition and developed nutrition education programmes for public schools while teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University 1909–40. Her many publications include the standard Foundations of Nutrition 1927.

She was born in Newark, Ohio, and gained a PhD in physiological chemistry from Yale.
