Rose, Uriah Milton

Rose, Uriah Milton (1834–1913)

US jurist who was a delegate to the Second Peace Conference at the Hague in 1907. He wrote Digest of the Arkansas Reports 1867 and The Constitution of the State of Arkansas 1891. Arkansas placed his statue in the US Capitol.

He was born in Bradfordsville, Kentucky. He graduated from Transylvania University in 1853, moved to Arkansas, and practised law. Although he originally opposed secession, he cast his lot with his state during the US Civil War. He travelled widely after 1872.
