Rosenman, Leonard

Rosenman, Leonard (1924–2008)

US composer. Known for his avant-garde film scores from the mid-1950s, he scored East of Eden (1955), Rebel Without a Cause (1955), Fantastic Voyage (1966), and Cross Creek (1983). He won Academy Awards for his adaptations of classical music for Barry Lyndon (1975), and Woody Guthrie works for Bound for Glory (1976). He also wrote music for television shows such as the cult 1960s series The Twilight Zone.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was a student of Arnold Schoenberg. He also won Emmy Awards for his original music for the television miniseries Sybil (1976) and Friendly Fire (1979).
