Rosewall, Ken(neth) Robert (1934– )| Australian tennis player. Between 1953 and 1972 he won eight Grand Slam singles and nine men's doubles titles. An elegant right-handed player, renowned for his ground strokes, he was one of the game's most acclaimed players. He turned professional in 1957 but was ineligible for Grand Slam tournaments until open competition was permitted in 1968. The one major title to elude him was the Wimbledon men's singles title, although he reached the final on four occasions, in 1954, 1956, 1970, and 1974. |
