Rosina

Ballad opera by William Shield (libretto by F Brooke, based on an episode in Thomson's Seasons and Favart's Les Moissonneurs with Egidio Duni's music), produced at Covent Garden, London, on 31 December 1782. The story concerns Rosina, who is the object of both Mr Belville's and Captain Belville's attentions. After the Captain tries to abduct her, Mr Belville realizes she loves him and he proposes marriage.
