Rosses Point

Sandy peninsula and seaside resort, 6 km/4 mi northwest of Sligo town, Republic of Ireland; population (2002) 774. Rosses Point looks over Drumcliff Bay, with views of Coney and Oyster islands. A statue called the Metal Man (1822) marks the deepest part of the channel for boats bound for Sligo harbour. Rosses Point is a tourist centre with a championship golf course, Sligo Yacht Club, and several long beaches.
