Rosseter, Philip

    0.12 sec.

Rosseter, Philip (1567 or 1568–1623)

English lutenist and composer. He worked in London and was associated with Robert Jones, Philip Kingham, and Reeve in the theatre life of the capital. From 1609 he worked with Robert Keysar, managing a company of boy actors, known as the Children of Whitefriars (from 1610 the Children of the Queen's Revels). From 1615 the company performed at the Blackfriars theatre. Rosseter published a book of songs to the lute with Thomas Campion; some, if not all, of the words were by Campion and about half of the music was by Rosseter.
