Rossi, Giovanni Gaetano (1828–1886)

Italian composer and conductor. He studied at the Milan Conservatory and was subsequently appointed leader of the theatre orchestra and organist at the court chapel of Parma. He was director of the Conservatory in Parma 1864–73 and conductor of the Teatro Carlo Felice at Genoa 1873–79.

operas Elena di Taranto (1852), Giovanni Giscala (1855), Nicolò de' Lapi (1865), La contessa d'Altemberg; three masses, Requiem; oratorio; symphony.
