Rossi, Salomone (1570–c. 1630)

Italian composer. He worked at the court of Mantua 1587–1628 and enjoyed the privilege of dispensing with the wearing of the yellow badge that stigmatized the Jews in Italy.

Choral and voice

oratorio Maddalena (both with Monteverdi and others, 1608, 1617); 28 Hebrew psalms for four–eight voices; madrigals and canzonets.

Other

instrumental works Sinfonie e gagliarde and Sonate; music for Guarini's Idropica.
