Rotary Club

Philanthropic society of business and professional people. The first Rotary Club was founded by US lawyer Paul Harris (1878–1947) in Chicago, Illinois, in 1905. In 1922 Rotary International was formed to provide humanitarian services, support high ethical standards, and promote peace internationally. Membership at the beginning of the 21st century was some 1.2 million people in 32,000 clubs.
