Rowicki, Witold (1914–1989)

Russian-born Polish conductor. He studied at Kraków Conservatory and was subsequently music director of the Katowice Radio Symphony Orchestra 1945–50 and of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra 1958–77, and director of the Warsaw Theatre Opera Centre 1965–70. He often led performances of music by Penderecki and Lutosławski.
