royal antelope

Small nocturnal African antelope, inhabitants of dense jungle. They are the smallest of all antelopes, being no more than 30 cm/12 in high, and are slenderly built with very thin legs, no thicker than a pencil; they are generally brown in colour.

Classification

The royal antelope Neotragus pygmaeus is in family Bovidae, in order Artiodactyla.

From between levels 23 and 24 (which ends at 480 cm), the highest bone weight appears, 1,630 grams, representing a royal antelope and a leopard.
The antelopes range in size from the tiny royal antelope, 10 inches at the shoulder and about the size of a rabbit, to the giant eland, almost 6 feet in height and weighing about 1500 pounds.
