Royall, Anne

Royall, Anne (1769–1854)

US author and journalist. In the 1820s Royall set about travelling to every corner of the USA. This resulted in ten volumes of revealing travel books. She later settled in Washington DC and established a publishing house. Royall published two weekly newspapers, Paul Pry 1831–36, and the Huntress 1836–54, which she used to support various causes as well as to deride her enemies.
