Royer-Collard, Pierre Paul

Royer-Collard, Pierre Paul (1763–1845)

French philosopher and statesman. He was a member of the municipal council of Paris at the beginning of the French Revolution. He fled from Paris during the Reign of Terror, and served on the Council of Five Hundred for a short time in 1797. In 1811 he was appointed professor of philosophy at Paris, where he originated the doctrinaire school of thought. He was president of the Chamber of Representatives in 1828. Royer-Collard born in Sompuis, Marne, France.
