Rubik, Ernö (1944- )

Hungarian architect who invented the Rubik cube, a multicoloured puzzle that can be manipulated and rearranged in a vast number of ways,only one of which displays a single colour on every face of the cube. Intended to help his students understand three-dimensional design, it became a fad that swept around the world.
