Ruckers (lived 16th–17th centuries)

Family of Flemish harpsichord makers founded by Hans Ruckers and continued by his sons Joannes (1578–1643) and Andries (1579– c. 1645), and their descendants. Their instruments were noted for their engineering precision and matchless tone, and were imitated widely. Many were commissioned for display and featured paintings inside the lid by artists, including Brueghel and Rubens. About 100 instruments made by members of the Ruckers family survive, in both single and two-manual versions.

Cappa Bleu was purchased by the Ruckers last September in Ireland and is lucky to be racing at all as he suffered a bad bout of travel sickness when being ferried over to his new home.
The Ruckers are life members of the Musicians Union, Local 47, and after their retirement, they traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
