Rudel, Julius (1921– )

Austrian-born orchestral conductor. Rudel immigrated to the USA in 1938, and began his long association with the New York City Opera in 1943. He became its general director in 1957, leaving in 1979 to become head conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic.
