Rudy, Mikhail (1953– )

Russian pianist. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and won the Bach International Competition in Leipzig in 1971. He made his European debut at Paris in 1977, with Beethoven's Triple Concerto and his US debut in 1981, with the Cleveland Orchestra. He appeared at Salzburg in 1987, under Karajan. He undertook chamber concerts with the Amadeus Quartet (until 1987), the Guarneri Quartet, and the Vienna Philharmonic Wind Ensemble. In 1988 he made his London debut, with the London Symphony Orchestra, and in 1990 he returned to Russia for concerts with the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
