Ruffo, Vincenzo (c. 1510–1587)

Italian male soprano and composer. His sacred music shows the influence of Tridentine (Council of Trent) reforms, which insisted on verbal clarity.

He held the post of maestro di cappella at Verona Cathedral from 1554 and at Milan 1563–72. He occupied a similar post at Pistoia 1574–79, then returned to Milan.
