Rufford Old Hall

Rufford Old Hall

Late 15th-century half-timbered house, in Lancashire, England, 15 km/9 mi northeast of Wigan. New wings were added to the house in the 17th and 18th centuries. The great hall has a hammerbeam roof (roof with short projecting beams that do not meet their opposite beam), and the house contains furniture, arms, and armour. Lord Hesketh gave the property to the National Trust in 1936.
