Rugendas, Georg Philipp (1666-1742)

German painter. He is noted for his landscapes and battle scenes. He lived in Italy 1691-95 and studied under Molinari in Venice. During the siege of Augsburg 1703 he risked his life drawing the scenes around him in the very midst of the engagements, afterwards publishing etchings of them.
