Ruidoso

Small town in Lincoln County, south-central New Mexico; population (1990) 4,600. It is situated on the Ruidoso (‘noisy’) River, in the Sacramento Mountains. Ruidoso Downs, a well-known horse track, lies to the east of this year-round resort community. Ski Apache is to the northwest, in the Sierra Blanca Mountains. The huge Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation lies to the south.
