The Guyanan cock-of-the-rock lives in forested ravines in northern South America. The brightly coloured males clear an area of ground and use it as a communal display ground, spreading wings, tail, and crest to attract mates.

South American bird of the genus Rupicola. It belongs to the family Cotingidae, which also includes the cotingas and umbrella birds. There are two species: R. peruviana, the Andean cock-of-the-rock, and R. rupicola, the Guyanan cock-of-the-rock. The male has brilliant orange plumage including the head crest, the female is a duller brown. Males display at a communal breeding area.
