Ruysch, Rachel (1664-1750)

Dutch painter of flowers and fruit. Her paintings are very rich and colourful with delicate and loving attention to detail. She ranks second only to Jan van Huysum as the most important flower painter of the 18th century.

She was painter to the elector palatine in Düsseldorf 1708-16.
