Ryun, Jim (1947– )

US track athlete. In 1966 Ryun set a world record of 3:51.3 for the mile. The next year he established a record for the 1,500 metres. He won a silver medal for the 1,500 metres in 1968, and turned professional after the 1972 Olympics. After suffering several injuries, he retired in 1976.
