Rzewski, Frederic (Anthony)

Rzewski, Frederic (Anthony) (1938- )

US composer and pianist. From 1960 he worked as a pianist. In 1966 he was co-founder of an electronic music studio at Rome.

He studied at Harvard with Randall Thompson and with Dallapiccola. In the 1960s he taught at the Cologne Hochschule and was professor at the Liège Conservatory (with Henri Pousseur) from 1977. From 1984 he was visiting professor at Yale University.

Zoologischer Garten (1965); Spacecraft (1967); audiodrama Impersonation (1966); Requiem (1968); Symphony for Several performers (1968); Coming Together for speaker and instruments (1972).

Other

Satyrica for jazz band (1983); Machine for two pianos (1984).
