Sás (Orchassal), Andrés (1900–1967)

Peruvian composer of French-Belgian descent. He studied in Brussels and went to Peru in 1924 as a violin teacher at the National Academy of Music at Lima. He married the Peruvian pianist Lily Rosay and with her founded a private music school in 1929. He made extensive research into Peruvian folklore and frequently used folk tunes in his works.
