Séjan, Nicolas

Séjan, Nicolas (1745–1819)

French organist and composer. He was a pupil of his uncle, N-G Forqueray. From 1760 he was organist of various Paris churches, succeeding Daquin at Notre Dame in 1772, and Armand-Louis Couperin at the chapel royal in 1789. When the Revolution took place he lost his post, but he returned to it in 1814, having been meanwhile professor at the Paris Conservatory and organist at the Invalides.

three piano trios; six violin and piano sonatas; keyboard music.
