Breakdown of an organization into its strengths and weaknesses (the internal analysis), with an assessment of the opportunities open to it and the threats confronting it. Strengths and weaknesses are internal and affect the company in the present; opportunities and threats deal with external factors and the future. SWOT analysis is commonly used in marketing and strategic studies.
