Sabadell

City in the province of Barcelona, northeast Spain, 16 km/10 mi north of Barcelona city; population (2001) 183,800. Industries include textiles, paper, agricultural produce, and olive oil.

Sabadell was one of the textile towns which saw the start of the industrial revolution in Spain in the late 18th century.

TENNIS: Rafael Nadal romped to an unprecedented fifth straight Barcelona Open Banco Sabadell title by beating fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-2 7-5 in yesterday's final.
ANDY Murray's unhappy return to Barcelona ended yesterday when he and doubles partner Ross Hutchins were beaten in the second round of the Open Sabadell Atlantico.
The groups secured $20 million euro in loans financed by Banco Sabadell and Banco Popular on behalf of Arranz Acinas Group to facilitate the land acquisition of 67-69 Laight Street.
