Rovereto

Town in Trentino-Alto Adige region, northern Italy, on the River Adige, 20 km/12 mi southwest of Trento; population (1993 est) 33,100. Rovereto is an agricultural market and a tourist and industrial centre, with mechanical, metal, textile, and chemical industries. It was the scene of an Austrian defeat by Napoleon in 1796.

The theologian and philosopher Antonio Rosmini-Serbati (1797-1855) was born here.
