Sackets Harbor

Resort in Hounsfield township, northern New York State, on Black River Bay, an inlet on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, 17 km/11 mi west of Watertown; population (1990) 1,300. It was the site of one of the first battles of the War of 1812 (19 July 1812). The battlefield, to the southwest, is now a state historic site.

The US explorer and military leader Gen Zebulon Pike is buried in the Old Military Cemetery.
