Sacks, Jonathan Henry (1948- )

English rabbi, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the British Commonwealth of Nations since 1991. He was a lecturer at Jews College, London, from 1973 until 1982, when he was appointed the first Sir Immanuel (later Lord) Jakobovits Professor of Modern Jewish Thought. His books include Crisis and Covenant (1992), One People? Tradition, Modernity, and Jewish Unity (1993), and The Politics of Hope (1997).

He gave the BBC Reith Lectures in 1990.
