Sacks, Oliver (Wolf)

    0.07 sec.

Sacks, Oliver (Wolf) (1933- )

English-born neurologist and writer. Sach's holistic approach to neurology has seen him stress links between mental states and physical afflictions, and his theories are often controversial within his own field. He has written extensively about his findings, and many of his articles and books have developed a popular readership beyond the field of neurology. His 1973 book Awakenings - which described his experience of treating ‘sleeping sickness’ -was the inspiration for the 1992 film of the same name, and the Harold Pinter play, A Kind of Alaska. He emigrated to the USA in 1960.
