Sadko

Opera by Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov (libretto by composer and V I Bielsky), which was produced in Moscow on 7 January 1898. The music is partly based on Rimsky-Korsakov's 1867 symphonic poem of the same name, Op. 5. Cast adrift as a sacrifice to the sea gods, the minstrel Sadko weds nymph Volkova before returning to his wife.
