Saint John

River in Maine, and New Brunswick, eastern Canada, flowing into the Bay of Fundy at Saint John; length 673 km/420 mi. It flows from Maine to New Brunswick, forming the boundary between the USA for 130 km/81 mi. The principal tributaries are the Alagash, Aroostook, and Oromocto on the right bank, and the St Francis, Madawaska, Tobique, and Salmon on the left bank. The river produces hydroelectric power for New Brunswick.
