Saint-Amant, Marc Antoine Girard de (1594-1661)

French poet. His works include his Oeuvres 1629 (enlarged edition 1638); La Rome ridicule 1634, described as a ‘caprice’; and the epic Moyse sauvé 1655. There is a strong vein of humour in much of his verse.
