Saint-Jérôme

City in southern Québec, Canada, 49 km/30 mi northwest of Montréal, in the lower Laurentians, on the Rivière du Nord; population (1991) 23,400. It produces textile, paper, and other products. With ski areas and summer resorts just to the north, tourism is also important.

Founded in 1834, it became the centre for colonization of a lumbering and farming area.
