SakkaraVillage in Egypt, 16 km/10 mi south of Cairo, with 20 pyramids. The oldest of these (third dynasty) is the ‘Step Pyramid’ designed by Imhotep, whose own tomb here was the nucleus of the Aesklepieion, a centre of healing in the ancient world.
