Sala, Nicola (1713-1801)

Italian composer and theorist. In 1794 he published Regole del contrappunto prattico/Rules of Practical Counterpoint in three volumes.

He studied with Nicola Fago and Lionardo Leo at the Conservatorio de' Turchini at Naples, and later became a master there. In 1787 he succeeded Pasquale Cafaro as principal.

Vologeso (1737); Zenobia (1761); Merope (1769); Demetrio (1762).
