Salishan

Major American Indian language family of the northwest USA (Washington, Montana, and Idaho) and British Columbia, Canada. Branches include Bella Coola; the Central Salish languages, many of which are now extinct; the Interior Salish dialects, spoken by the Salish and most member tribes of the Colville people; Tilamook, extinct since 1970; and the Tsamosan languages, all on the verge of extinction.
