Salmhofer, Franz (1900-1975)| Austrian composer and conductor. Having learnt music as a choirboy, he studied at the Vienna Academy under Schreker and others. He later taught at Horak's music school. Between 1929 and 1939 he was conductor at the Burgtheater, for which he wrote incidental music to over 300 plays. From 1955 he was director of the Vienna Volksoper. |
