Saltram

House owned by the National Trust in Devon, England, 5 km/3 mi east of Plymouth. Classical facades were added to the original Tudor house around 1750, and Robert Adam designed the saloon and dining-room in 1768. The house is set in a landscaped park and has gardens with an orangery and summer-house.

The large picture collection includes 14 portraits by Joshua Reynolds, a frequent visitor.

The Parker family lived here from 1712 until 1962.

Offspring included three Derby winners - Saltram, Young Eclipse and Serjeant - and one descendant was called Copenhagen, Wellington's mount at Waterloo.
