Samara, Spiro (1863–1917)

Greek composer. He studied at Athens, later with Delibes and others at the Paris Conservatory. The Italian publisher Sonzogno procured him his first operatic production at Milan. He subsequently produced other works at Rome, Naples, Florence, Milan, and Genoa, though his success was short-lived. He last appeared at Athens in 1914.
