Samson et Dalila

Opera by Saint-Saëns . It was first produced in Weimar, Germany, on 2 December 1877, but was forbidden on the French stage until 1892 on account of its biblical subject. It was first performed at the Opéra in Paris on 23 November 1892. Delilah seduces Samson and betrays the secret of his strength. Later, blinded, he prays for strength and brings down the temple on himself and his Philistine enemies.
