Samut Prakan

City on the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand, at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River 19 km/12 mi south of Bangkok; population (2000 est) 378,700. The economy is chiefly derived from trade, especially rice and teak, as the Chao Phraya River functions as Thailand's main waterway system. The river is also important for tourism and fishing.
