San Carlos

City on the east coast of Negros Occidental province on Negros Island in the Philippines; population (1995) 101,400. The city is in the main sugar cane-producing district of the Philippines, and has a sugar mill. San Carlos has a deepwater port and an airport.

San Carlos

City in north-central California, near the southern end of San Francisco Bay, 34 km/21 mi southeast of San Francisco; population (1990) 26,200. A flower-growing centre incorporated in 1925, it has now become an electronics producer on the northern fringe of Silicon Valley.
