Santa Paula| City in southwestern California, on the Santa Clara River, 84 km/52 mi northwest of Los Angeles; population (1990) 25,100. It is an oil-producing and refining and lemon-growing centre. It also packs and ships other fruits and nuts and has some light industries. |
