Santurce

Spanish-speaking community (barrio) containing much of the modern business and governmental district of San Juan, Puerto Rico, on peninsulas and the mainland, south and east of Old San Juan; population (1990) 95,200. Originally a residential suburb, Santurce is now central to metropolitan San Juan's transportation network, and contains many of its offices.

The waterfront communities of Miramar, Condado, and Ocean Park are part of the barrio, and the Isla Grande airport is here, on San Juan Bay.
